It's difficult to pick a favorite four wheeler out of the very popular Honda Rancher line, but if we must, the Honda Rancher 420 four wheeler is our pick for the Rancher that has all you could want in a four wheeler, and maybe just a bit more!

First made available in 2007, the Honda Rancher 420 (or Rancher AT) is a mid-sized four wheeler, but it's not middle of the road on features. Like with the addition of the double clutch, automatic 5-speed transmission in the 2009 Rancher 420 model. The Honda Rancher 420 has always had automatic transmission, but it was greatly improved with the dual-clutch transmission which was put in place for the Hondamatic transmission on the 2007 and 2008 models.

With the 2010 Honda Rancher 420 you also have the chance to change the gears manually (almost) with the electronic shifting provided to you on the handlebars. In most normal cases, though, you will like having the Honda Rancher 420 ATV change gears for you.

The Honda Rancher 420 four wheeler also includes electronic power steering (beginning with the 2009 model year). Electronic powe steering only seeks to make the Honda Rancher 420 ATV even more user friendly by allowing the rider to turn into any tight turn with ease. Power steering added to the automatic transmission allows the rider to enjoy the ride more, and only requires a focus on where you want to go, and less on how you are going to get there!

If you are into climbing or crawling over technical terrain with your four wheeler, the addition of an independent rear suspension will allow you to take the Honda Rancher 420 over larger rocks or other ground clutter. With almost 3" of additional clearance compared to the other Honda Rancher atv's, the independent rear suspensions clear the ground by 9.1". Add to that the 6.3" of travel in the suspension, and the independent rear suspension makes for the Honda Rancher 420 a far superior ride over it's competition.

The Honda Rancher 420 four wheeler isn't the cheapest of the Rancher models (you can get the 2D standard version at the lowest price), but it isn't the most expensive either. The Rancher 420 AT provides penty of convenience factors, while still providing the power and the stability you expect out of a Honda Utility ATV. But with the increased ground clearance, the Rancher 420 makes a perfect four wheeler for any recreational activity you want to push it through!
