Used Four Wheelers and ATV's

The Polaris Predator 500 ATV is not currently sold by Polaris as a new model, but that doesn't mean that you can't purchase a used model for yourself! Once you start looking at the Polaris Predator 500, you see the value of the four wheeler, and begin to wonder exactly why Polaris decided to pull it. After all, it's a Polaris, so without looking too deep, we can tell that it was absolutely value-priced. But then you look further, past the price, and see the high end stock tires wrapped around fairly expensive rims, and you start to realize that Polaris probably priced themselves right out of the quad market with all that the Polaris Predator 500 offered as a quad ATV.

The Polaris Predator 500 was a quad ATV (or four wheeler if you will) built by Polaris for the model years 2003 to 2007. All year model Polaris Predator 500 four wheelers featured an exclusive "Troy Lee Designs" specialty quad, which allowed the Predator to win "Sport ATV of the Year" in multiple years.

The Polaris Predator 500 ATV was pretty powerful as far as quad engines go. It featured a liquid-cooled, 499cc 4-stroke engine with a Mikuni carburetor for increased power and response. And it was easy to start as it featured one of the few electric starters in its category during the Predator's production run. The 5-speed transmission is manually driven with a manual clutch and shift, to give the rider as much control as possible while still providing a high quality ride.

Polaris decked out the Predator 500 with as much aluminum possible to provide and extremely light quad! The Predator 500 has aluminum shocks connecting the quad to the dual A-arm suspension in the front and the swing-arm suspension in the rear. The shocks provide a huge 10 inches of travel for the front, and just a bit more, 11 inches, in the rear. For strength, the axles are made of chromoly and should be durable for a long time (as with most axles, this is depending on just how hard you ride and how often).

The Polaris Predator 500 four wheeler featured some really high end tires and rims. Maxxis RAZR tires were outfitted on the front and rear (21x7 and 21x10 respectively), and were wrapped around aluminum Douglas rims. You can of course go higher than that on a set of rims, but for the value-priced Polaris quad, aluminum Douglas rims are a pretty sweet edition.

All of the aluminum and chromoly parts (there are too many to list here) give the Polaris Predator 500 four wheeler just 405 pounds of weight. The top of the line Yamaha Raptor 700 from 2009, meanwhile is around 422 pounds for comparison.

If you are interested in a well received four wheeler or quad that was so good that it won multiple awards and recognition for its design, parts array, and performance, then take a look at the Polaris Predator 500. In our opinion, Polaris just priced the Predator quad a bit too low for what was received, and thus the four wheeler had to be removed from the market. But the Predator 500 is a fantastic buy at current prices!
